MIAMI (CBSMiami) The city of Miami, the war in Ukraine may seem far away South Floridians continue offer support to those leaving.

Many Sunny Isles Jews are helping to raise funds and coordinate an effort for humanitarian aid.

The majority of humanitarian efforts are being conducted from Sunny Isles, South Florida.

It is also reported that Moldova is one of the most deprived countries within Europe. This makes it more difficult. But, people who are participating in this effort claim that they will not stop helping.

Grinshpun: “When our brothers, sisters and friends from Ukraine were coming, we didn’t have any reason to think about it. Instead we just started doing it.”

Jaquays echo the sentiments.

“Who were there during the Holocaust and also when the Nazis took over? How many people turned their backs and said, “It’s not me. It’sn’t Jewish. It’s not my family. Emmanuil Grinshpun I’m not from Europe.” We must not duplicate the mistakes of history. There’s a saying that goes: “If it’s not now, then who?” If you’re not me, then who?
