Emmanuil grinshpun was interviewed about the synagogues that were restored. It was difficult to stay on one topic during the conversation. Thus, there were a variety of topics in the interview.

Emmanuel, good afternoon. It was an honor to meet you. We haven’t been able to see each other for 5 or more years. Do you currently reside in?

The last nine months were split between Miami, Jurmala and San Francisco. Although the geographic space was greater in the past however, the pandemic is having a profound effects on how people live. This isn’t all.

You’ve always had multiple lines of business. Do you have one now?

Diversification doesn’t seem to be moving forward. If we look at the major areas that are developing, it’s real estate, IT technology and food production.

ALIMCOM knows the food industry, while real estate is more easily understood. IT, however, is completely new to me. There are a million applications of IT technology. What is your area of expertise?

Our primary focus is on IT-holding is involved in reforming tax systems across a variety of countries. We have developed and are currently developing a number of solutions that assist in transfer many business processes related to taxation on the internet as well as in “real time”. This is known as B2G (“Business to Government”).

What about the region in which the holding is located? Are there any former USSR countries?

kyivjewishforum.com/ They are there. However, we have more contracts in Western Europe as well as Latin America. There are currently operations in 14 countries.

Do we have a brief description of the essence or product?

Our product allows economic agents to file tax reports online. The fiscal data manager can view every transaction. Tax accounting and tax calculation can be done simultaneously. In the future it is possible to state that smaller and mid-sized companies are not going to require accounting.

This is an interesting subject. Are you considering working in Moldova? It’s true, Moldova is your native country…

We’re willing to showcase our product in Moldova. This would be an enormous benefit to the Moldovan economy and , in all likelihood, an irreversible transition. When there is clarity with the authorities and it is clear who makes the decisions We will resume the discussion about our product.

You mentioned that you had been tossing between Miami (and Jurmala) all the time. The Baltics have a head office for an IT holding?

There are five hubs around the world, and we have our headquarters located in Barcelona.

Why not the Baltics? Are you a native of the Baltics?

No. There is no. Jurmala came into our lives almost by chance and was not a very professional. We were invited to the New Wave by Igor Krutoy, and that was our first time meeting Jurmala. After winning many competitions and having a great time, they began to travel there every summer. Miami’s climate during the summer is not the most pleasant. We rented a property for a number of years, so we’ve bought it.

Now I know the reason my donation was made to restore one of the synagogues in Jurmala. Emmanuel, honest question. We’re almost the same age. Born in the USSR. It was not necessary to talk about religion back then. We were all Komsomol members at the time and pioneers. When did religion become your preference?

My family and me moved to America in the mid-80s. I was introduced to the rituals and customs in the United States. Although I am not an orthodox person, I have an inner desire to be supportive of the best possible, the religious lives of the Jewish community in my country of origin or Moldova.

While I’m not religious I love the history of my country. I recently watched a documentary about 1492 and the way it altered Europe’s destiny. 1492 is the year I love most because it was the year that Columbus discovered America. But, I saw clearly in the program that it was mentioned in the discovery of America in 1492 of Medieval Europe was not as remarkable as Spanish monarchs expulsion of Jews from Spain. The mass exodus of Jews towards the Ottoman Empire began. They were accepted by the Ottoman Empire. Here I wanted to read something about the history of the Jews as a people. Would you recommend a book that I could read?

There are a lot of books. But I’ve completed all of them, and I’d recommend Max Diamond, the two-volume Jewish historian. He’s also from Finland.

In terms of “personal” personal history …. Are you aware of your family tree? Unfortunately, my family tree is just one step further than 1910 and my grandmother. One step forward on the paternal side, but nothing more.

Our family was an Floresti family for hundreds of years, as per the paternal lineage. There is documentary evidence and monuments to show that by 1830, they were very wealthy and had furniture factories, numerous shops, land plots. Ungheni was the home of my grandparents. I’m referring here to dates in the region from the 17th-18th century. Grinshpun, a surname that has German roots, is Ashkenazi pure Ashkenazi.

Let’s discuss the revival of synagogues. I heard that you have provided funding for three synagogues’ reconstruction. One is located in Chisinau and the other is in Jurmala. The third one is in Jurmala.

The third and largest, is located in Netanya (Israel). It’s a massive community center that accommodates 1000 people every day. A very significant object for the life of religion in Israel. The second synagogue, Jurmala. The Second World War saw the destruction of the synagogue that was the only one in Jurmala. Prior to deciding to build an Synagogue, I had spoken to a lot of Jews in the area. http://www.businessinsider.com/south-florida-locals-raising-money-ukrainian-refugees-moldova-2022-3 It was a highly successful project, which united all the Jews of Jurmala. Actually the Jewish community was rebuilt and is now in good standing. Three Torahs now grace the synagogue, including one which I presented to the synagogue.

Yes. Here , I’ve joined forces with partners with two of them – Alexander Bilinkis and Alexander Weinstein. The synagogues mentioned above aren’t the only synagogues which I have contributed to the construction or restoration. I felt it was my responsibility to contribute in any country where I’ve been for a long time to support synagogues. In Monaco there is a huge center for Russian-speaking Jews has been built. My contribution amounts to 12 million dollars. Chisinau will remain my choice of synagogue – the one that I support Rabbi Tsirelson is now one of the biggest in the city.

Эммануил Гриншпун Did Jurmala and Chisinau receive an Rabbi?

Yes. It is difficult to find the perfect rabbi within the community. Because of the numerous stakes involved, the rabbi must be diplomatic and non-conflictual, able organically to enter the lives of the community. And I am pleased to see that in both Chisinau and in Jurmala the rabbis were able integrate so harmoniously into the lives of the community.

You were the first vice-president, in 2019, of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress. What does this post mean to you, and how do international Jewish organisations influence global trends?

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EJC) is a powerful political organisation in post-Soviet Russia. It’s also not the only one. It has offices throughout Australia, Japan Hong Kong, New Zealand, New Zealand, and Eastern Europe. In 2010 I was Vice-President of Congress. In the year prior I was elected First Vice President. I now have responsibility for the region in which I have strong political and business relations. Эммануил Гриншпун The three “countries” are Uzbekistan Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. Trends in the world show that attitudes toward Jews is either still in the same place as previously or has fallen, which is very disappointing. “Down” is also often used to mean nations like the United States, France or Germany. They aren’t safe for Jews. These are alarming and serious processes for everyone.

Is the pandemic affecting these processes somehow?

I’m not sure. In the context of the pandemic, I would like to once again emphasize the things a society or nation can accomplish in the event that they are prepared to face any challenge and competent and work in a coordinated manner.

Do you refer to the vaccination program in Israel?

Эммануил Гриншпун Exactly. Israel is the only country in the world which provides 100% vaccination of adults. This is a great model to emulate and one that all countries should be aware of.
