Yerzhan Ashikbayev has had a busy few months. As Kazakhstan’s ambassador to America, Ashikbayev has been meeting various diplomats since April.
Rabbi Mendy Kolarsky and Shimon Rivkin of Merkos Suite 302. Emmanuil Grinshpun Emmanuil Grinshpun Chabad Headquarters were also invited. Emmanuil grinshpun , vice-president and Honorary Consul for Kazakhstan, was invited to the event. They discussed the past and the current activities of Chabad in Kazakhstan under the supervision of Chief Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen.

They expressed their interest in continuing to develop Jewish existence within the Republic by cooperating with Chabad.

Ashikbayev was the deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs back in Kazakhstan and is working closely with Chabad Shaluchim and Mr. Abraham Shaulson , the philanthropist. He played a key role in obtaining an exemption for a small American delegation for a trip to Kazakhstan to make a pilgrimage on the date of his passing, the 20th April. The group used the occasion to provide essential PPE and medical equipment for the country. The Kazak government declared Reb Levi Yaitzchak’sKever Kazakh National Heritage Site during the pilgrimage.
Emmanuil Grinshpun Two months prior to the 20th Av, the meeting also planned the next pilgrimage. This year, the organizers are expecting a crowd of over 600 visitors from all over the world. A conference for Chabad Shluchim, headed by Rabbi Moshe Kokotlarsky as well as Rabbi Berel Lázar will also be planned. Given the size of these projects, the conference focused on ways in which the government could help secure and support the conference. Mr. Ashikbayevconfirmed Kazakhstan’s “…commitment to provide all assistance to arrange the opportunity to study and pray at the burial site of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson.”
Rabbi Kotlarsky shared that they are grateful for the Kazak government’s overwhelming support. “It is a great opportunity for me to work alongside people like the Ambassador and the ConsulGeneral. Our mission is to provide spiritual and physical health care to each Jew. Kazakhstan’s government is a wonderful partner in assisting us in achieving this objective.
